Our top Connecticut rustic wedding venues part 1

From a photographer point of view, the eyes that see things no one else sees here are some rustic venues we enjoy!!

  • The Lace Factory

  • Wright’s Mill Farm

  • Lion Rock Farm

“The biggest must for us not only in the wedding world but in how we live our lives, is kindness.”

What makes a place special to you is a matter of perspective and will be unique and unlike others. We may love the blue door at the entrance of the Lace Factory while you love the wooden one with the vintage sign next to it.

We treasure venues that only hold one wedding a day. Why? Because it creates intimacy, it allows for an attentive staff and a leisurely flow of the day that is yours. No rehearsal taking place while you are trying to do your first look, no bridal shower in the ballroom while you’re getting ready, no cleaning products filling the air as they hurriedly flip the rooms over. It’s part of the aesthetic and vibe and helps to create that one of a kind feeling.

The biggest must for us, not only in the wedding world, but in how we live our lives is kindness. If the people running the show are not kind or friendly, we don’t want to mess with it. So rest assured that if we speak kindly of a place they have passed the test and that those in charge and their staff are people we would like to hangout with. They are thoughtful and considerate, and that fact alone helps insure your wedding day will be full of generosity, understanding and you guessed it…kindness.

The Lace Factory in Essex, Connecticut is housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century factory building. This place adds a unique, historic charm to your wedding day. The building is full of texture. A reception room with vintage windows all along the walls and repurposed wood panels. There’s stained glass and heavy doors that hold stories far older than any of us. Ivy grows on the brick siding of the outside, helping you step back in time and feel like you’re in a European oasis but on the shores of the Connecticut River.

Take advantage of the Essex Steam Train and Riverboats to include the scenery to your weekend.

“When you visit a venue, you may not realize you need to think about a weather plan. Mother nature is not a force we can reckon with.”

Oh rain! Because mother nature is not a force we can reckon with, it’s always a good idea to scope out your venue with a rain plan in mind. The Lace Factory offers a delightful indoor and outdoor space, which makes bringing an outdoor ceremony indoors not so heartbreaking. Having options is such an underrated quality of a venue.

The Food! Jules still dreams of their salads and slow braised short ribs. Through Cloud Nine Catering the Lace Factory takes care of you!

Wrights Mill Farm

The first time we drove into Wright’s Mill Farm I felt like I was on vacation. The beautiful and secluded feel of this place is second to none.

The scenic beauty of Wrights Mill creates a romantic atmosphere that can make for stunning wedding photos and unforgettable memories. Imagine getting married deep in the woods, under a canopy of trees next to a stream and rock waterfall. Peaceful, my thoughts exactly. And you have the option to ride in on a horse drawn carriage! There’s a charming barn, a serene pond and foliage to melt your heart.

“Our couples that have chosen to get married here have always felt taken care of.”

Wrights Mill Farm works with an experienced staff who are dedicated to making weddings memorable and stress-free. From event coordinators to catering professionals, the staff are committed to providing excellent service and attention to detail.

Lion Rock Farm

Lion Rock Farm is hidden in the picturesque Litchfield Hills, which when we first went here Jules felt like she had just spent the day at the spa. The rolling hills and peaceful sounds of nature soothed her soul and lit up our creativity.

You are quite literally surrounded by natural beauty with opportunities for breathtaking photos in every direction. A true gem of a location for the couple that wishes to be away from everything.

Lion Rock boasts a rich history, with its main house dating back to the 18th century. This historic charm adds a unique character to your wedding photos, with vintage architecture and rustic features lending a timeless appeal to the imagery. You will wish this was your everyday oasis.

“You are given a sense of seclusion and exclusivity.”
